Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.
In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob shares the latest adjustments to the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking.
Highlights
00:24 — There have been additional “shake-ups” in the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking — ServiceNow has jumped to #6 (previously #10), Workday to #7 (previously #8), and Salesforce has dropped down to #8 (previously #6).
This episode is sponsored by “Selling to the New Executive Buying Committee,” an Acceleration Economy Course designed to help vendors, partners, and buyers understand the shifting sands of how mid-market and enterprise CXOs are making purchase decisions to modernize technology.
01:20 — Bob explains why ServiceNow and Workday have moved up the ranking. Both companies are deeply invested in AI, have recently had some great customer wins and high growth rates, and both are offering “more than just the mass of the past.”
01:53 — As Bob noted earlier this week, Google Cloud has jumped from #3 to #2. ServiceNow, Workday, and Google Cloud represent the notion of the shift from the “productivity cloud” to the “innovation cloud.”
02:40 — Some of the key criteria used to determine the rankings are:
- High growth
- Sustained use of AI
- Forward-looking value for customers
- Inspiring visions of CEOs
04:00 — Elaborating on the last point, Bob notes that although Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff continues to paint a very inspiring picture, the downshift in the rankings relates to (lack of) growth. Why is Benioff committing to only 10% growth for the next quarter and full fiscal year? “That I just can’t comprehend,” states Bob.
05:03 — While Bob is very comfortable with these changes to the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking, he notes that there will be more in the near future.
