On Location at Informatica World: Generative AI, Partnerships Top Customer-Centric Agenda

Informatica World took place this year at The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas. Anyone that’s spent any time in Vegas may wonder how a data management conference ever hope to match the energy of the casinos outside the ballroom doors? Informatica managed it.

Informatica maintained high energy throughout the conference with a flurry of announcements. While the best way to separate them is along the lines of products and partners, a theme that underpinned all the announcements was the company’s focus on customers and the concept of data ownership.

In a business technology world dominated by the cloud, the biggest technology asset most businesses own, and don’t rent, is their data. Informatica has made it a mission to ensure customers make the most of that data.

Informatica is on the Acceleration Economy Top 10 Shortlist of Data Modernization technology providers.

Embracing Generative AI

By far, the most talked about innovation at Informatica World this year was the company’s development work in the field of generative AI. The standout feature launched at the event was CLAIRE GPT, which Informatica positioned as the industry’s first generative AI-powered data management platform.

Which companies are the most important vendors in data? Check out the Acceleration Economy Data Modernization Top 10 Shortlist.

CLAIRE is Informatica’s existing AI engine used to drive its flagship data management platform, Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC). With CLAIRE GPT, which is due for release as a native IDMC service in the second half of the year, Informatica customers can leverage the power of various large language models to simplify, speed up, and democratize data management, processing, and analysis.

Using a natural-language interface, CLAIRE GPT enables even non-technical users to, in a few short steps, utilize data at the point at which it is consumed. Yet, CLAIRE GPT wasn’t the only advancement to CLAIRE announced at Informatica World.

To hear practitioner and platform insights on how solutions such as ChatGPT will impact the future of work, customer experience, data strategy, and cybersecurity, make sure to register for your on-demand pass to Acceleration Economy’s Generative AI Digital Summit.

Informatica is also extending the capabilities of CLAIRE Copilot, CLAIRE’s automation and intelligence feature. Now, users can automate data governance, quality, pipeline generation, Master Data Management (MDM), redundant data discovery, and customer data organization. However, the new updates will enable Informatica’s customers to do much more, including auto-generate classifications, predicting data lineage, analyzing for multi-column completeness, and automapping.

Partner Focus

Informatica also detailed a series of new or expanded partner relationships. As well as an expanded partnership with the consulting and technology firm ZS, which will result in Informatica’s IDMC embedded with ZS’s cloud-native life sciences platform ZAIDYN, there were three partnership announcements with cloud hyperscalers that are the top three providers in the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking.

Microsoft: IDMC is going to be offered as an Azure Native ISV Service, while Informatica’s Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC) is already available natively on Microsoft Azure.

AWS: Informatica has made its AI-powered Cloud Data Integration-Free for Amazon Redshift available directly from the Amazon AWS Redshift console, enabling customers to select it from the Amazon Redshift console menu and process up to 20 million rows and access 10 processing hours per month for free.

Google Cloud: Informatica’s Intelligent MDM Software-as-a-Service for Google Cloud and its IDMC for Google Cloud in Europe can now be purchased via the Google Cloud Marketplace.

While on location at Informatica World, we spoke to Informatica CFO Michael McLaughlin about his take on the announcements, who emphasized the company’s focus on technical innovation and being customer-centric.

CFO Michael McLaughlin

“I get the impression, talking with customers, Wall Street analysts, and investors, that we’re viewed as a very complex company, and that’s right in a lot of ways because we’ve been around for over 20 years,” he continued. “We’re now in a position with the IDMC platform to deliver all of that complexity and the power that comes from that complexity in a simple way that can create value very quickly.”

Informatica World concluded with an evening celebration in a glitzy outdoor club on a Vegas rooftop. Swapping suits for Bahama shirts and coffee cups for Corona bottles, team Informatica was in the mood for a party, and they certainly had a lot to celebrate.
