Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder, Bob Evans. The next three minutes are packed with insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud! Today’s Topic: Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud Battle for Top Q4 Growth Rate.

Highlights

0:12 – Bob tees up the topic for today: looking ahead to the upcoming announcements of Q4 earnings and growth rates from the Cloud Wars Top 10, which vendor will be the hottest of them all? The main three contenders are Microsoft, AWS, and Google Cloud. None has yet released quarterly numbers, so this video will focus on Bob’s predictions, or informed guesses.

0:45 – Google Cloud is likely to be the fastest-growing of all the companies in the Cloud Wars Top 10 in terms of Q4 cloud revenue growth rate. It has achieved this status for many quarters in a row. Bob expects Google Cloud to hit 49% growth for Q4, and $5.7 billion in cloud revenue. After Google Cloud, Bob expects AWS to have the second-highest growth rate. AWS will probably hit 35% growth for a Q4 cloud revenue total of $17.1 billion. This will mark another quarter where Amazon’s cloud unit out-grows that of Microsoft.

1:30 – As for Microsoft, it’s tough to put up the kind of numbers that they do and come in third, but that is likely to be the case. Bob predicts that Microsoft will hit 32% growth for calendar Q4, and bring in cloud revenue of $22 billion.

2:00 – Some additional big numbers: ServiceNow will likely finish Q4 with 30% growth, and SAP recently released preliminary numbers for Q4 which indicate a growth rate of 28%.

2:55 – Salesforce, whose quarter ends January 31, will probably report growth of about 25%. The vigorous expansion across the Cloud Wars Top 10 is yet more evidence that customers continue to realize that they want and need the power of the cloud.
