Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder, Bob Evans. John Seifert fills in today to provide insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud! Today’s topic: Oracle and Google Cloud Land Federal Government Deals.
Highlights
0:23 – Oracle announced that it can host some of the U.S. federal government’s top secret and sensitive compartmented information along with special program mission data. This is being done with Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure Platform.
0:41 – The government granted Oracle an Authority to Operate (ATO) for secure processing of some of the Air Force’s most sensitive data. Oracle National Security Regions are air-gapped computing regions, only connected to government networks and not the rest of the internet. The ATO only applies to the Air Force data for now, but the company expects to host classified data from other agencies in the future.
1:49 – Two other companies, besides Oracle, have achieved the Defensive Information System Agency’s Impact Level 6 accreditation to host all government data classification levels. Those other two companies happen to be the #1 on the Cloud Wars Top 10, Microsoft, and #2, Amazon Web Services.
2:15 – Google Cloud also joined the federal space, with the Defense Innovation Unit selecting their Secure Cloud Management Solution to implement organization wide. Check out the Acceleration Economy team’s additional coverage of the Google Cloud news here.
