Acceleration Economy Cybersecurity

In episode 69 of the Cybersecurity Minute, Chris Hughes discusses Grip Security and how it fits into SaaS security.

This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s Digital CIO Summit, taking place April 4-6. Register for the free event here. Tune in to the event to hear from CIO practitioners discuss their modernization and growth strategies.

Highlights

00:30 — Grip Security, which is on the Acceleration Economy Cybersecurity Top 10 Short List, focuses on SaaS security. SaaS security is important as organizations increasingly adopt multi-cloud, using multiple infrastructure providers like Microsoft and Google Cloud.

00:52 — But when it comes to SaaS in large enterprise environments, upwards of 200 to even 300 different services are used. Information technology (IT) and security teams only have visibility and control for about 20% to 30% of that SaaS usage, leading to “shadow SaaS.”

01:15 — Grip Security looks to tackle shadow SaaS and the problems it causes. It has a very unique value proposition in its agentless deployment mechanism. It also provides tailored SaaS insights so organizations can understand the visibility of their SaaS usage.

02:01 — Grip aims to provide “more signal, less noise.” Additionally, Grip offers dynamic risk scoring that covers the user’s SaaS portfolio.

02:08 — With Grip, there’s visibility of your SaaS consumption and usage that organizations can view on an ongoing basis. They can have some governance around SaaS consumption.
