Limited partnerships are fast becoming a thing of the past amongst the Cloud Wars Top 10. We’ve seen an evolution from “Enter” to “Expand,” and with this momentum comes massive customer wins.
Oracle and IBM are fortifying their partnership to deliver exceptional value to customers and help support their agentic AI and hybrid cloud ambitions. Their joint efforts are not just about technology, but about bringing the power of watsonx to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to revolutionize the customer experience. This customer-centric approach is at the heart of their collaboration.

AI Agent & Copilot Summit is an AI-first event to define opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents. Building on its 2025 success, the 2026 event takes place March 17-19 in San Diego. Get more details.
Advancing AI-Driven Growth
“AI delivers the most impactful value when it works seamlessly across an entire business,” said Greg Pavlik, Executive Vice President, AI and Data Management Services, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
“IBM and Oracle have been collaborating to drive customer success for decades, and our expanded partnership will provide customers new ways to help transform their businesses with AI.”
This “seamless” approach sees IBM integration with OCI across multiple fronts. Yet, each area contributes to the core aim of helping the enterprise incorporate and manage agentic AI and hybrid cloud strategies.
- watsonx Orchestrate: From July 2025, watsonx Orchestrate, IBM’s AI agent, assistant, and workflow orchestration offering, will be available on OCI. Orchastrate will enable users to manage agents embedded in Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications, OCI Generative AI Agents, and other OCI AI services.
- IBM Granite: Soon, Oracle customers can access the IBM Granite model family through OCI Data Science via AI Quick Actions. “By integrating our AI with Oracle’s offerings, we’re enabling businesses to easily deploy and manage AI agents across their enterprise,” said Kareem Yusuf PhD, Senior Vice President, Ecosystem, Strategic Partners & Initiatives, IBM.
- IBM software and watsonx.ai: IBM will also be bringing its Envizi ESG Suite — a sustainability software suite for ESG reporting — to OCI, while watsonx.ai — IBM’s flagship enterprise-grade AI development studio — is now certified to run on the technology.
- IBM Consulting: Finally, regarding IBM Consulting, the company has expanded its remit to help customers grow agentic AI strategies across Oracle AI agents, watsonx Orchestrate AI agents, and agents from other vendors in IBM’s partner ecosystem. Beyond this, IBM Consulting will provide new AI-driven services to assist Oracle customers with infrastructure migration and modernization. These services could include automated data migration, AI-powered infrastructure optimization, and predictive maintenance solutions.
Closing Thoughts
Collaboration is a cornerstone of success in tech hierarchy’s upper echelons. The race is on to fulfill the promises of agentic AI, and with such a receptive market and significantly increasing investments, organizations providing AI solutions need to focus on their strengths.
It’s very encouraging to see yet another expansion of a longstanding collaborative partnership between companies in the Cloud Wars Top 10, and from multiple perspectives. Of course, as I’ve highlighted, customers win when these companies work together.
However, beyond this, there is the notion of governance and responsible development. In the past, reaching a consensus has been difficult when companies have been in direct competition. Yet today, the idea of “We need to figure this out!” is driving responsible development and joint efforts to ensure we get this right the first time, rather than looking at it retrospectively.
