In a Knowledge24 interview, Kieron Allen talked to Lisa Rawls, principal, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) technology leader, KPMG. Rawls discussed KPMG’s strong partnership with ServiceNow, recognition as Partner of the Year, and innovative approach to integrating and ethically implementing AI technologies.

Highlights

Values and AI (00:39)

KPMG is a strong partner with ServiceNow. It’s a provider of services to them. KPMG uses ServiceNow to manage a lot of its internal processes. This year, it was honored to receive a Partner of the Year award at Knowledge24.

There’s tremendous buzz around AI. At Knowledge24, KPMG presented its 10 ethical pillars of trusted AI. Customers are not ready to fully trust AI yet. KPMG is an early adopter, embedding generative AI into everything it does. A recent Source study named KPMG number one in AI advice and implementation services.

KPMG’s 10 ethical pillars are based on three core principles. First, the pillars should be value-based. The second is human-centricity — AI shouldn’t operate unchecked. The third principle is trustworthiness.

AI Buzz (04:35)

With AI, it’s first about understanding the business process and the outcomes one wants to achieve, then identifying the best use cases to achieve those outcomes. KPMG is talking with many clients now about early steps. Questions include: Do you have someone responsible for AI within your organization? Do you know where all your AI, specifically GenAI, is being used and for what purposes?

Conducting an initial inventory and establishing an acceptable use policy are crucial steps. It’s helping clients set strategies, establish responsible AI frameworks, build models, and much more.

In his keynote, Bill McDermott mentioned that the ServiceNow customer base projects that 1 billion hours of capacity will be created through its customers using generative AI. Think about what additional things that can be done with that capacity. “This is more about the additional things we can do rather than AI taking our jobs.”

Partner Networks in the AI Ecosystem (07:00)

Partner networks are incredibly important, says Lisa. Many different vendors make up an AI environment. Helping companies ensure they get the best of that is crucial. Beyond ServiceNow, KPMG has over 90 strategic alliance partners it teams with, many of whom are playing in the generative AI space.

The significance of partner networks was underscored at Knowledge24 when Microsoft and ServiceNow announced a partnership. Since KPMG works with both those organizations and its clients have varied tech stacks, it helps them think about the best-of-breed model and how to bring it all together. This ensures it drives business outcomes and leverages the technology to get tremendous value.
