June’s live Cloud Wars Expo event featured dozens of industry leaders allowing the Acceleration Economy team access to the inner workings of the greatest growth market the world has ever known.
If you missed the Expo or just want to catch up on sessions you were not able to attend, then you’re in luck. We recorded more than 40 hours of education sessions from the event, which are available for free to Acceleration Economy subscribers. We’re also previewing the content in this series of Moments, which feature highlights from each session.
In this Cloud Wars Expo moment, excerpted from the Retail Industry Cloud Battleground, Carrie Tharp, VP of Retail and Consumer at Google Cloud, discusses the primary solutions that the company is focusing on to enhance customer and consumer experience, using retail principles to improve hospitality solutions.
Highlights
00:16 — Google Cloud customers are looking for ways to increase engagement on their sites and implement the fundamental principle of direct consumer interaction. Google Cloud is focused on providing solutions for these customers.
00:39 — To meet customer demands, Google Cloud focuses on four key areas. The first focus involves helping hospitality become guest-centric. This includes everything from understanding data about consumer room inventory to what’s going on in the ecosystem around them to drive operations and performance improvement.
01:01 — Another area of focus for Google Cloud is “everything digital.” This includes helping drive digital engagement through a direct relationship with the consumer. Tharp references how retailers, during peak season, support scalability and the necessary loads they need, but that hospitality lags a bit. A priority for Google Cloud is applying those peak retail season principles to travel, improving discovery and recommendations, and helping consumers on their journeys.
01:36 — Physical experience is the third top focus for Google Cloud. The organization is exploring ways to bring technology to the edge and evolve guest services interactions.
02:03 — Finally, Google Cloud is focused on driving sustainable and efficient operations. By using technology to drive costs out, customers can improve hotel operations, and customer service call centers while accelerating the quality of service.
