In episode 58 of the Cybersecurity Minute, Rob Wood shares why it’s so important to take into account the cognitive load on teams when implementing a multi-cloud strategy.

This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s Digital CIO Summit, taking place April 4-6. Register for the free event here. Tune in to the event to hear from CIO practitioners discuss their modernization and growth strategies.

Highlights

00:23 — There’s a cognitive load associated with a multi-cloud strategy. There’s a lot of complexity that goes into managing different cloud services, which may range from GCP to AWS and Oracle to Azure, and more.

00:57 — If you have a smaller or more junior team that’s not used to working in these different services, or with potential interoperability requirements, you might run into issues. Rather than making things more cost-effective with multi-cloud implementation, this kind of setup might end up making things more expensive because you’ll be dealing with a long tail of maintenance and costs.

01:29 — As a leader of a technology portfolio, make sure that you’ve got the team resources in place to really support a multi-cloud strategy. If you don’t, then stick with a single provider at the moment.
