Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.
This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s “Cloud Wars Top 10 Course,” which explains how Bob Evans builds and updates the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking, as well as how C-suite executives use the list to inform strategic cloud purchase decisions. The course is available today.
In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I highlight Workday’s ambitious initiatives to drive co-creation innovation in the cloud ecosystem.
Highlights
00:28 — There are a couple of interesting themes going on last week at Workday Rising and one of the most important was Workday’s very strong plans to help boost co-creation and innovation for partners, customers, and developers.
01:09 — AI Marketplace hosts third-party, generative AI (GenAI) tools that are being brought on the Workday Platform account. The important thing about this is that Workday is going to take a close hand at ensuring that all of these new third-party tools will meet its very stringent standards for responsibility, privacy, bias, security, etc. It’s starting with 15 companies, AWS is one.
02:00 — The other new program is AI Gateway. Now that is from within Workday’s STEM platform team. It’s going to be pumping out lots of new tools and capabilities that will help developers create new GenAI solutions. Target got 10 of these new types of applications.
03:08 — A couple of numbers that were tossed out by Workday co-CEO Carl Eschenbach: 5,000 developers on the Workday Extend platform so far this year; 1300 apps, that’s up 71% from last year. It’s a big step forward for Workday.
04:01 — I’ve got a Google Cloud sweatshirt on, coming from Workday Rising. Co-founder, currently co-CEO and chairman, Aneel Bhusri was describing the great new partnership that Workday has built with Google Cloud.
