Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily cloud news and commentary show. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the cloud.
In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I discuss the expanded partnership between IBM and AWS.
Highlights
00:03 — IBM and AWS have announced that they’re expanding their existing partnership to better help businesses adopt responsible AI. Key announcements include the availability of IBM Granite models on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker Jumpstart. There’s also expanded AWS Marketplace offerings with IBM software and consulting services now available across 18 countries.
00:42 — However, the most significant developments, in my opinion, are around governance and security enhancements. IBM watsonx governance is integrated with Amazon SageMaker for a more fluid risk assessment process while IBM Guardium AI Security, a unified AI governance and security product, is now available on AWS Marketplace.
AI Agent & Copilot Summit NA is an AI-first event to define opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents for mid-market and enterprise companies. It takes place March 17-19 in San Diego, CA. Register now to attend.
01:07 — As two of the leading companies in the AI revolution, IBM and AWS have a lot of responsibility regarding safe deployment of AI technologies. Customers rely on them to deliver innovative products securely, and by joining forces, they are able to expedite the underlying security and governance protocols that must underpin any AI developments.
01:32 —Another important consideration is scale. The capabilities of AI and the opportunities it presents are almost limitless. However, to achieve them, a company must have a clear road ahead without roadblocks or other obstacles that could lead to negative consequences. Together, IBM and AWS appear to be providing that clarity.
