In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I analyze how a new Google Cloud and Vodafone partnership is set to redefine revenue generation and customer engagement through advanced AI and cybersecurity offerings.
Highlights
00:14 — I’m very interested in this story about Google Cloud and a customer, Vodafone. But really, this is just such a great example of the power of the cloud. Google Cloud and Vodafone have been doing business together for some time. They’ve just signed a 10-year, $1 billion partnership that is going to, among other things, create new revenue streams for Vodafone.
01: 08 — This shows the power of the cloud. They are going to be using AI and other services to push Vodafone more deeply into markets around television and devices that improve customer engagement while driving better customer experiences. Vodafone is going to create a cybersecurity business unit where they will sell cybersecurity services to Vodafone Business customers.
02:10 — The technology on which Vodafone will build this new cybersecurity business is the Google Cloud Security Operations platform. This is a wonderful example of how the cloud can help businesses become not just consumers of technology that someone else makes, but providers of technology in their markets, regions, and industries, allowing them to move into their digital future.

03:19 — The 10-year, $1-billion deal is not a brand new thing for Google Cloud. It’s done this with financial services, car companies, and others, where it gets in, and it’s not just a massive revamp of the technology infrastructure — databases, analytics, AI, and more — but also a transformation in terms of what businesses those customers are in.
04:20 — This is a great example of how the cloud can do marvelous things, not just in the technology part of a business, but by giving businesses the foundation to build their digital futures and to create exciting new prospects.
