In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I explore how Salesforce’s Agentforce 2.0 is redefining the future of work by blending AI-driven digital labor with human creativity
Highlights
00:16 — Marc Benioff and Salesforce have taken some huge steps forward into creating a wild, different, highly optimistic, and far-reaching future with Agentforce 2.0. I think that this new level of agent vision and what Benioff calls digital labor — what I’m calling a digital workforce — is going to rock the business world.
01:03 — Earlier this week in San Francisco, Salesforce held an event where Benioff delivered the keynote. Benioff said it’s limitless: you’re no longer constrained by, “Geez, I’d like to expand here or do that, but I don’t have the workers.” These agents are proactive. Unlike copilots, they don’t need to be told what to do—they act autonomously, independently, and are constantly learning.
AI Copilot Summit NA is an AI-first event to define the opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with Microsoft Copilot for mid-market & enterprise companies. Register now to attend AI Copilot Summit in San Diego, CA from March 17-19, 2025.
02:32 — It calls this AgentForce 2.0. Benioff said the total addressable market (TAM) for this is enormous. He said, “Nobody’s tried to size it yet. I think it could be in the trillions.” This is an astonishingly big market. At one point, Benioff remarked, “ I’ve been thinking a lot lately: What does it mean when I’m not just managing people, but I’m managing people plus digital labor?”
03:14 — He said it’s a very different mindset for CEOs to adopt. As agents take over not just repetitive, low-value work but also uncover new ways of working and innovating, it begs the question: What will humans do with the time that’s freed up? It’s going to challenge business leaders to rethink their strategies.
04:08 — Yes, it’s great that these agents will handle lower-value work and uncover new forms of creativity, but how do we position our human workforce to take on uniquely human tasks? What opportunities will this create?
05:00 — I think that’s a powerful encapsulation of what this new workforce could achieve. Hats off to Salesforce and Marc Benioff for pushing this forward. It signals massive changes for the enterprise software industry as we move into the era of digital workforces.
