Welcome to the AI Agent & Copilot Podcast, analyzing the latest AI Copilot and agent developments from Microsoft and its partners, delving into customer use cases, and exploring how AI plus the Cloud helps customers reimagine their business.
In this episode, John Siefert talks with two speakers about their upcoming Better Together: When and How to Build Agents Leveraging the Best of Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry session at AI Agent & Copilot Summit:
- Dewain Robinson, principal program manager at Microsoft
- Prashant Bhoyar, AI Architect, Office of CTO at AIS and a Microsoft MVP

AI Agent & Copilot Summit NA is an AI-first event to define opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents for mid-market and enterprise companies. It takes place March 17-19 in San Diego, CA. Register now to attend.
Highlights
Understanding Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry (01:48)
Robinson explains that Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry are not competitive but complementary tools, using the analogy of an apple and an orange to describe how different but effective these tools can be when used together. He emphasizes the importance of understanding when and how to use these tools.
Operating in a SaaS environment, Copilot Studio has more guardrails, making it easier to use but allowing potentially less creativity. Operating in a PaaS environment, Azure AI Foundry offers more flexibility but require more technical expertise. Bhoyar adds that the focus should be on solving customer problems rather than debating the tools used; customers care more about the solutions provided.

Session Preview (04:04)
The session will cover how to use both Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry to create effective agents. Bhoyar highlights the integration available between the two tools. It’s a solid practice to focus on what customers are trying to achieve and how the tools can help them.
Additional Sessions (05:35)
Robinson will also lead a master class session on Building Agents in Copilot Studio while Bhoyar will also be joined by colleague Brent Wodicka, CTO if AIS, to discuss AI literacy on the main stage. Bhoyar notes that AI literacy is crucial, especially with the rise of GenAI lincluding ChatGPT. His session will cover when to use GenAI, traditional AI, and other AI technologies.
Practical Application of AI Technology (07:50)
Siefert highlights Dewain Robinson’s work in making AI technology accessible and practical for the community, while Robinson explains that his community work focuses on practical applications of AI technology; he uses the analogy of ingredients in a recipe to describe how different AI tools can be combined to solve specific problems.
