In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob Evans expands on the deal between SAP and Google Cloud, who are joining forces to co-create a data cloud, providing customers with the most valuable assets of both vendors.
Highlights
00:40 — SAP has expanded its relationship with Google Cloud in what Bob refers to as a “blockbuster deal” around the data cloud. All of SAP’s data will be available within Google Cloud’s data cloud and customers will receive access to the full range of services that Google Cloud has created in the data cloud.
01:36 — All of SAP’s data will now be able to access Google Cloud analytics, AI and ML tools, large language models (LLMs), and third-party data.
01:55 — As a result of the partnership, customers will see many benefits, including:
- Real-time access
- Simplified data landscape
- Trusted insights
- Joint solutions for sustainability projects
- SAP’s Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) to run globally across Google Cloud
02:50 — “At the technology level, [this] is really going to simplify a lot of things, pull a lot of different pieces together,” says Bob. “Most important, I think, customers these days are trying to move as rapidly as possible into the world of the digital economy…too often they’ve had to mismatch…this takes away a great deal of that.”
03:35 — Instead, this announcement provides exciting new opportunities around AI, ML, and LLMs, for customers to get into that business. Bob highlights how this also reflects Google Cloud’s openness and eagerness to form partnerships on a strategic level.
