Oracle CSO Gary Miller on How Oracle’s Agentic Apps and Expertise Are Helping Customers Thrive in the AI Era

Ahead of Oracle AI World 2026, which took place October 25–28 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cloud Wars founder Bob Evans spoke with Gary Miller, Customer Success Officer and Executive Vice President of Oracle Customer Success Services. The pair explored how Oracle is helping businesses accelerate AI adoption through embedded AI and agentic capabilities.

Evans began by asking Miller how the conversation around AI had shifted over the past year. “Pretty much everyone needs to know now how to use AI to do their job, how to build agents, how to basically change the way they do their work,” Miller responded. “We’re going from democratization of AI to industrialization of AI.”

That’s where Oracle is helping customers pursue returns on their AI investments at scale. “The good news is [we have] a lot of embedded AI in our applications, in our technology, so customers can start using that first, rather than going off and running and often building the first thing that comes along.”

One such technology is Oracle’s AI-native builder experience for Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications, which enables customers and partners to create and run outcome-driven agentic applications. This focus on outcomes was a point Evans picked up on. He asked how Oracle had adapted its internal approach to reflect these changing customer needs.

“In this cloud and AI world, it allows us to have a much deeper, richer relationship with our customers,” said Miller. “In the past, we’d sell them some software. Now we’re living with them every minute of every day, and that [introduces] more of a strategic element to the relationship where we advise them. What are they trying to achieve?

“Again, from a business outcome perspective, what’s the best use case from Oracle technology and others?”

Miller also highlighted the importance of technical leadership in helping customers identify use cases and co-innovate solutions, alongside Oracle’s operational expertise in running mission-critical business functions. “We can help accelerate customers not just coming up with ideas but really getting into their business processes and into their operations,” he said.

The Key to Success

Evans noted that companies were achieving varying levels of success with AI and asked Miller what those seeing the best results were doing differently. Miller explained that successful companies combine a top-down approach, with senior leaders identifying two or three high-impact use cases, with a bottom-up approach that encourages employees to contribute their own ideas.

He also stressed the importance of moving quickly from pilot projects to production and learning through continuous innovation. “I call it building the muscle for ongoing innovation. It’s not a one-time event,” he said.

Turning to AI World, Evans asked Miller what he hoped customers would take away from the event and what he wanted them to understand about how Oracle could help them achieve their AI-driven goals.

“It’s not just the great technology, the great customers, and partners,” Miller said. “We also want to [demonstrate] some breakthroughs in how we can help customers get to value faster, and when they’re live, protect their business in the best way possible.”
