In this News Desk interview moment, Tom Smith speaks with Mark Klein, Chief Digital Officer of ERGO Group, during Celonis’ Celosphere 2022 conference in Munich. Klein discusses digital transformation, the role of culture, and how his company has worked to get employees enthused about process mining.
Highlights
00:10 — Klein says he’s convinced that digital transformation is mainly a cultural transformation. Companies typically have multiple initiatives and projects that they have to drive and they are heavily depending on the know-how of each individual in the organization.
00:40 — ERGO has seen the importance of creating transparency, the understanding of what the technology does, and how to demystify it so that people are not afraid. To achieve that with process mining, the company developed a real board game and top managers competed in a task to travel from their location to the airport most efficiently. They could hike, bike, take a taxi, or drive themselves.
01:25 — Calculations were made of how much time individuals took to make the trip, how much they spent, and their carbon emissions. Results were made transparent and employees began to understand and think about how process mining could impact their processes.
02:01 — The game shows the impact of process mining in an “easy and joyful manner,” Klein says.
