Highlights
47 — Capone notes that data modernization is more critical now than ever. He points to the unprecedented uncertainty of the past five years: wars, inflation, supply chain disruptions. “The old data models don’t apply like the old way we used data and analytics using historical information and static data models and data lakes — no good,” he says. Businesses need real-time analytics and to be able to take action on data in real time — they need foresight, not hindsight.

50 — Explaining how Qlik is uniquely positioned to help customers deal with today’s complexity, Capone says the company is completely cloud-agnostic, working with every hyperscaler. Its software works on premise, in the cloud, and in hybrid clouds. CIOs and chief data officers (CDOs) appreciate that flexibility because they want to avoid lock-in.
20 — The company is also differentiated by its ability to move data across systems at high speed. Qlik has all the data transformation capabilities, industry-leading analytics, and functionality around application and integration automation. The Talend acquisition is a key part of this strategy.
47 — Speaking to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) functionality, Capone says that, historically, business intelligence (BI) tools have been backward-looking. CEOs care less about the data; they know that the data can identify the pattern, so the CEO wants to know what their leaders are doing about it.
17 — When data sits in a dashboard and nothing’s happening, that’s a real problem, Capone says. Qlik has developed capabilities where customers can take action such as change pricing or open a ticket in a CRM system. With Qlik’s new ML/AI functionality, customers build models right inside the analytics platform and pay only for the ones they move into production. This delivers predictive models to look into the future.
23 — John asks what Capone hopes customers will take away from QlikWorld. Capone notes that Qlik is the “last independent analytics provider at scale; we’re it.” The company is 30 years old. It has stood the test of time by continuing to innovate and add capabilities, with a “relentless” focus on building data and analytics apps that drive amazing outcomes for customers. “We don’t do video games, we don’t do CRM, we certainly don’t do Bitcoin. All we do is work with our customers to drive terrific outcomes.”
10 — That focus, plus its growth through organic innovation and acquisitions, are key reasons Qlik is on the Data Modernization Top 10 Shortlist.
