In this Cloud Wars Expo Moment, taken from the Industry Cloud Battleground conversations on the retail industry, Carrie Tharp, VP of Retail and Consumer, Google Cloud, explains how the company uses data in real-time to deliver solutions to its retail customers.
Highlights
00:16 — Harmonizing data — and giving brands visibility to that data — is what will enable organizations to make real-time decisions.
00:22 — Tharp defines a retail media network as “everyone’s desire to get to that alternate revenue stream, monetize that audience, get better product and information in front of the customer.” This requires data exchange capabilities and media solutions around that. Many large brands have had media networks for some time, but the retail industry is seeing smaller brands move to these networks.
01:09 — Retail has always been faced with the challenge of acquiring data and applying it, for real-time purposes or not. This leads to complexities in using that data, in combination with product and customer data, in real-use cases. Tharp says Google Cloud works with its customers to deliver all of their data that can be used to create real-time solutions.
