In this Analyst Take, Wayne gives listeners insight into the keynote presentation given by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) lead Clay Magouryrk. Wayne says Magouryrk focused on three important things that he wants to share with his audience.
Highlights
00:27 — Wayne says that Magouryrk talked about Alloy, which is an environment that allows partners to become cloud providers and deploy their own customized clouds built on top of Oracle infrastructure.
00:43 — Oracle has launched a product called Dedicated Region. This is Oracle’s effort to “spin up” a dedicated cloud for individual companies with their own specific needs, no matter if it’s data sovereignty, security, or certain controls.
01:12 — The third important factor of this keynote was Oracle’s partnership with AWS, which allows it to take data that exists within an AWS database and get to it from the Oracle cloud. Wayne says this was demonstrated on stage.
02:55 — It was interesting how there was fanfare in the announcement of Oracle’s partnership with Microsoft, but seemingly a lack of fanfare in response to the similar announcement of a partnership with another major player, AWS. Regardless, he says the “walled gardens are tumbling down” for cloud providers and expects even more major players to do the same in the near future.
