In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob Evans follows up on the intimate conversation that he had with Oracle’s Larry Ellison at the Oracle Database Summit.

01:08 — Oracle plans to have hundreds of data centers. Ellison made a contrast between Oracle and the three original hyperscalers — Microsoft, Google Cloud, and AWS, which have a small number of huge data centers. Oracle will have a large number of small data centers. Architecturally, all of Oracle’s data centers will be the same and offer the same services and technologies.
02:13 — Additionally, Ellison touched on Oracles Gen 2 architecture of its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), which is designed to be less expensive, and more flexible, allowing for a more compact footprint.
