June’s live Cloud Wars Expo event featured dozens of industry leaders allowing the Acceleration Economy team access to the inner workings of the greatest growth market the world has ever known.
If you missed the Expo or just want to catch up on sessions you were not able to attend, then you’re in luck. We recorded more than 40 hours of education sessions from the event, which are available for free to Acceleration Economy subscribers. We’re also previewing the content in this series of Moments, which feature highlights from each session.
In this Cloud Wars Expo Moment, excerpted from the Public Sector Industry Cloud Battleground, Nicholas Smith, program lead of federal digital services at Oracle, explains how AI/ML has impacted the quality of data – something he considers impossible without the fundamental of cloud plus AI/ML.
Highlights
00:16 — Smith says data’s availability has grown tremendously over the last several years. Smith points out that the “cleanliness of data” is something that oftentimes is not a consideration. For Oracle, ensuring that all the data it receives is clean is important.
00:47 — AI has assisted Oracle in ensuring the data coming in is clean, consistent, and does not require much handling. This means that Oracle does not have to “touch the data as much” or bring in specific analysts to structure the data appropriately, says Smith.
01:03 — Oracle’s autonomy “allows that to happen on its own,” Smith says. Oracle has autonomous data warehouses that optimize, fine-tune, and patch the database when necessary, he says. Autonomy allows the team at Oracle to gain usability, performance, and security of the data it receives, something Smith considers to be “autonomy happening at scale, real-time, by itself.”
