While on location at Celosphere 2023 in Munich, I had the opportunity to have conversations with executives and customers to gain their insights and perspectives on the Celonis ecosystem and its acquisition of Symbio.
Highlights
00:14 — One of the biggest developments of the week was Celonis’ acquisition of Symbio, a business process management software company. Once the Symbio tools are integrated, customers will be able to design an optimized process from the outset, via Symbio, then continuously monitor and optimize that process using process mining from Celonis.
00:53 — I had a conversation with Symbio CEO Oliver Zeller who is thrilled about the combination of these companies and what they can achieve together. He reported there was already customer interest in these tools working together.
01:13 — Celonis and Symbio have already collaborated on an enhanced ‘Process Cockpit’ that can transfer target processes with live data into an employee experience portal, helping steer a company to optimize processes while providing employees with visibility.
01:32 — This vision gained validation during my discussion with Celonis customer Chris Knapik of PepsiCo. He noted the value of having the two capabilities in a single integrated product portfolio.
02:06 — Symbio is tightly integrated with Microsoft and the Teams platform. This should further Celonis’ system agnostic positioning while fueling better, tighter integrations with Microsoft across the Celonis portfolio and accelerate process mining efforts.
02:48 — I expect the system-agnostic point to become more of a battleground between Celonis and the likes of SAP Signavio, which also offers process management and modeling capabilities.
