In this Cloud Wars Horizon Demo Day moment, excerpted from the digital event held by Acceleration Economy on Dec. 15, Kenny Mullican discusses how AI automation can improve manufacturing processes and evaluate product quality with Ronak Mathur and Tom Smith.
Highlights
00:11 — Kenny shares a time that he was looking for ways to implement more advanced types of automation on a manufacturing floor, particularly using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). He discovered a use case of a company that manufactured silicon chips. The company previously had a very manual process for developing the chips and running an analysis on them to determine what purposes they were able to be used for.
00:49 — Because this process was manual, it lead to flaws in the product — it could still be used for one purpose, but not another. Additionally, the company was only able to test a small percentage because of how much time it took to evaluate them manually.
01:04 — This company was able to implement automation software in conjunction with hardware sensors that could evaluate minute details of the chip quality. It would then pass that information through the AI automation solution to determine the level of quality of the chip and what its purpose would be.
01:42 — Since the whole process was now fully automated, the company was able to better examine the chips and sort them based on quality as they were being manufactured. Now, it doesn’t need to identify flaws further downstream in the process.
