I spent this week on location at Community Summit North America 2023. Here are four highlights from keynotes and sessions I’ve attended.
Highlights
00:32 — Microsoft’s Alfredo Ramirez shared that CarMax, an online auto marketplace, is using Azure OpenAI to automate content generation. What took a couple of days under this model would have taken a writer 11 years to create. It has automated 80% of content creation.
01:21 — Another Microsoft exec, Mike Ehrenberg, CTO for Dynamics Business Applications, detailed the expansion of the company’s cloud availability zones for Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform. For applications deployed across two zones, if one is impacted, the service continues operating in the second.
02:04 — There was a compelling, differentiated generative AI use case detailed by Microsoft Partner RSM. Specifically this partner detailed how its customer, the Canadian city of Kelowna, has used Microsoft’s Azure open AI service to revamp its grant management process and solve the problem of leaving millions of dollars of potential grants on the table.
02:55 — Finally, a practitioner from Microsoft partner Velosio provided timely insight on Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability and laid out four key functions of the software for customers: unified data intelligence, building sustainabe IT infrastructure, reduce environmental impact of operations, and creating sustainable value chains.
