Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily cloud news and commentary show. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the cloud.

In today’s episode, Kieron Allen guest hosts to discuss IBM research into GenAI expectations of CEOs.

Highlights

00:12 — Research from IBM’s Institute for Business Value finds that 74% of energy and utility companies have implemented, or are exploring, AI in their operations. The data leverages interviews with 420 CEOs from those industries. Another key finding: 63% of CEOs are more likely than peers in their expectations of realizing value in the next three years from GenAI and automation. 61% of CEOs expressed concerns about the sources of data used in GenAI.

01:37 — IBM also laid out ways that GenAI and large language models (LLMs) could be used in the industry and one specific use case: compliance. LLMs can provide a single repository of obligation management to classify requirements and help organizations manage their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs while tracking results against key performance indicators, or KPIs, set by the business.

This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s “Cloud Wars Top 10 Course,” which explains how Bob Evans builds and updates the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking, as well as how C-suite executives use the list to inform strategic cloud purchase decisions. The course is available today.
