Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder, Bob Evans. The next three minutes are packed with insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud! Today’s Topic: Four Cloud Industry Predictions for 2022.

Highlights

0:42 – Bob tees up the four cloud industry predictions for 2022 that he’s going to share in this video by labeling them: one BOOM, one POOF, one BANG, and one $100 billion.

01:00 – First up: cloud databases are going to go BOOM! As companies grapple with the digital economy and the need to make data-driven decisions, a scad of new innovative companies are emerging to deliver better cloud databases than ever before. Bob says that 2022 is going to be the year that these cloud database companies move from development into impact.

01:42 – Second, the term “industry cloud” is gong to go POOF. This is not because the concept is going to fade, but rather that it’s going to become so popular and so widespread that the term “industry cloud” won’t even be needed anymore.

02:12 – Within the industry-cloud realm, the new trend of “co-creation clouds” is going to have a BANG next year. We’re seeing this new strategy, where customers and cloud providers team up to produce what could be called “ultra-industry solutions,” get into swing already. Next year, it’s going to take off even more.

02:52 – Lastly, $100 billion. That is likely going to be the cloud revenue total for Microsoft, the top company on the Cloud Wars Top 10 that continues to absolutely roll in terms of success. In calendar 2021, Microsoft Cloud will probably bring in about $80 billion. With 25% growth (which Microsoft usually exceeds), next year will see the company hit $100 billion in cloud revenue.
