I’m on location with Cam Sessinger, Online Editor, Dynamics Communities, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at Community Summit North America 2023. We discuss a few takeaways from the event, including Microsoft’s pivotal role in shaping the future of technology and the dynamic artificial intelligence (AI) landscape.

Highlights

00:33 — Cam explains Community Summit has been very exciting, with jam-packed days starting with Academy late last week. On Monday, there was the AI pre-conference and then, in the afternoon, there was a partner pre-conference.

01:24 — The general sessions per product featured programming committee members, user group experts, and Microsoft speakers and were a great place to start and get a sense of product roadmaps, the future of the product, and an overall recap per user group.

02:00 — There’s a big Microsoft presence, with over 45 Microsoft speakers here this week, and over 50 Microsoft-led sessions. Alfredo Ramirez honed in on generative AI and how its intention is to augment human intelligence, not replace it, so really honing in on that notion of a Copilot. He had a compelling CarMax user case.

03:28 — AI Summit day had a really great turnout and a jam-packed schedule. The agenda featured various Microsoft speakers and Acceleration Economy practitioner analysts, diving into the what, why, and how of generative AI and Microsoft Copilot.

04:32 — Women in Tech was a great panel discussion. As a woman in tech, Cam thinks it’s important to see leaders in this field and have striking and open dialogue around topics including allyship, mentorship, impostor syndrome, and gender gaps in the workplace.
