In the Acceleration Economy Cloud Wars Top 10 CEO Outlook 2023 series, Bob Evans interviewed Bill McDermott, CEO of ServiceNow. The company ranks #10 on the Cloud Wars Top 10. In this CEO Outlook moment, McDermott explains how ServiceNow customers are building their own applications in real-time for their own use.
Highlights
00:10 — ServiceNow customers are building their own applications on the ServiceNow platform. In the era of enterprise apps, in the 1990s through the 2000s, it was always about “the big company building a shrink wrap app, and shipping it globally,” says McDermott.
00:40 — “What’s super cool here is everything is in real-time,” McDermott notes. All the applications that are being built, are being built by ServiceNow customers for their own use. They can do it in a way that is “lightning fast, extraordinarily low cost, and it integrates with all the big departmental needs.”
01:26 — McDermott explains that “that’s where the common platform is so powerful.” He says that there will be “750 million net new applications built in the next two years on low-code platforms” like ServiceNow. To put that in context, that’s more application development than has taken place in the last half-century.
01:45 — This is really a revolution in business software, suggests McDermott. “With ServiceNow being born in the cloud, everything is immediate time to value,” and that’s changing enterprise computing pretty quickly.
