In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob Evans offers five critical issues that he hopes are addressed at SAP’s upcoming Sapphire event.
Highlights
00:40 — SAP is holding its annual Sapphire event in Orlando, FL on May 16-17. Bob shares a few ideas that he hopes SAP will consider discussing at the event.
01:00 — About a month ago, SAP introduced a new product Datasphere. The company says this is an enhancement to the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. Bob notes that the notion “data fabric” is often used when referencing this product, and points out how many do not understand what that means. “I hope SAP positions Datasphere very clearly in the language of customers.”
02:09 — A few years ago, Bob was under the impression that SAP was well on its way to becoming a leader in industry clouds and industry solutions. Now, he is not as clear as what SAP’s focus is relating to industries. “I hope they’ll clear this up at SAP Sapphire.”
02:39 — Additionally, Bob would love to see some “proof points” about SAP’s RISE program. What is happening among RISE customers? What are the benefits they’re seeing from this program?
03:15 — You can’t have a conversation without talking about generative AI. “I think it’s both a huge risk and a huge opportunity for SAP,” notes Bob. How does SAP plan to embed this in all of its enterprise applications, given they are the leading enterprise application developer?
03:52 — In the area of customer experience (CX), SAP has made it very clear that it wants to do new, innovative things around this notion. Bob references last year’s event, where SAP exec Julia White gave a “dynamite presentation” about what can happen for businesses when they can fuse their supply chains and demand chains. “I think in some ways, SAP has to talk about this, and talk about it in the language of customers.”
