Highlights
00:11 — A highlight of Oracle CloudWorld was Oracle CEO Safra Catz’ keynote. She spoke briefly and then the main part of her keynote was conversations with six outstanding customers.
00:31 — Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi talked about the incredible transformation at that company and Oracle technology’s role in that. He said Uber is now doing two billion trips a quarter. With Oracle technology, it might be able to out-Amazon Amazon when it comes to delivery services.
01:22 — Another company, Aon, had to consolidate from 30 different systems and six different platforms down to one. With the help of Oracle AI, work that used to take several weeks, can now be done in a matter of seconds
01:57 — Then at Loblaw, Canada’s largest retailer, an executive spoke about how a big part of its technology initiatives is to help fulfill its purpose, which is to help Canadians live better lives. Loblaw moved all its SAP data over to this OCI database, and business is now performing better than ever before.
02:40 — Tim, based in Brazil, is a giant telecommunications company, which made a huge shift over to Oracle Applications, to be able to achieve better business results. Emerson’s chief operating officer talked about the need to have a bias for action. First Solar said that it replaced applications from SAP worked in Salesforce with an end-to-end suite of Fusion Cloud SaaS applications.
04:19 — Safra Catz talked about having a culture that rewards risk-taking. So, the technology is great, but you have to have the customer leadership and the mindset that says we’re not just going to do what we’ve done in the past a little bit better.
