Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily cloud news and commentary show. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the cloud.
In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I take a look at Oracle’s AI Agent Studio, which I discussed with Oracle EVP Steve Miranda.
Highlights
00:15 — It’s been fascinating to see the boom with AI agents. Some companies, like Microsoft, say AI agents will rise to the top, with applications moving to the background. A different perspective comes from Oracle. It believes that apps and agents will be fused.
01:19 — I had a nice chat with Steve Miranda about some new things coming out for Oracle’s agents there, in particular the AI Agent Studio coming up. Part of Steve’s comments about that really reinforced this notion that as far as Oracle is concerned, agents equal applications. You can see my full video interview with Steve later today.
02:26 —The new AI Agent Studio further extends automation, allowing customers to extend existing agents and create entirely new ones. Steve said the AI Agent Studio is part of the Fusion Cloud Application Suite. He emphasized that customers who have invested in Oracle over the last 15 or 20 years won’t need to rethink or re-architect how their software works.
Ask Cloud Wars AI Agent about this analysis
03:00 — I asked Steve in particular, “Will Oracle agents and the ones that customers create be able to work with non-Oracle agents?” He said, “Absolutely, that’s going to be the case, just as it is with the applications here.” And particularly, he said that’s important for these multi-step processes. Another big point Steve mentioned was the full choice for customers regarding whatever large language models they want to use for these agents within the AI Agent Studio .
04:01 — One of the best things for customers is that the AI Agent Studio is going to be available at no additional charge. Steve said, “This is what we do at Oracle. It’s our overriding philosophy: to continue to infuse new technology, new capabilities, and new value into our existing offerings.”
05:00 — So, interesting times. And I think the way Oracle is positioning apps and agents—reinforced through this new AI Agent Studio—is fascinating to see. We’ll keep an eye on what all the software companies in the Cloud Wars Top 10 are doing with this balance between agents and apps.
