In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob shares his thoughts after listening to what Microsoft Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff had to say at the recent Goldman Sachs investors conference.
Highlights
00:58 — Althoff shared perspectives that he has on areas of the Metaverse. However, Bob acknowledges that this could be a blind spot that has emerged for Microsoft.
02:01 — There will be three types of Metaverses: consumer, commercial, and industrial. Althoff is the most excited about the possibility of the industrial Metaverse.
02:16 — He listed five benefits of the industrial Metaverse, which Bob breaks out in an article to be released later today. Most of the listed benefits for customers were in the sustainability realm, including:
- Uses less energy by deploying digital twins and IoT solutions.
- Creates less waste.
- Reduces their carbon footprint.
02:39 — However, there was no mention of how customers can use the digital twin and IoT industrial Metaverse solutions to dazzle their own customers and provide fantastic experiences to get products to market faster. There was no talk about driving growth.
03:02 — Sustainability can’t stand alone. It has to be woven in with other big things that a company wants to deliver.
