Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily cloud news and commentary show. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the cloud.

This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s AI Ecosystem Course, available on demand. Discover how AI has created a new ecosystem of partnerships with a fresh spirit of customer-centric cocreation and renewed focus on reimagining what is possible.

In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I give an overview of the latest growth trends among top cloud companies, showcasing Oracle’s exceptional 30% growth rate, ServiceNow’s impressive rise to the second spot, and Microsoft’s groundbreaking quarter.

Highlights

00:50— Here in the Cloud Wars Top 10 hottest growth companies, we’ve got the latest iteration of the list here, and it shows Oracle is number one fastest growing, ServiceNow is number two, and Microsoft is number three. Even though it’s number three, I believe Microsoft has just concluded the greatest quarter any cloud company and maybe any technology company has ever had.

02:05 — Let me just run through a couple of these: Number one, Oracle, 30% growth rate, $4.6 billion; ServiceNow has jumped up to number two with 27% growth rate and subscription revenue of 2.2 billion; and number three, Microsoft 24% growth rate. Its total cloud revenue a year ago is $25.7 billion.

02:56 — It means it added $6.1 billion added incremental revenue from a year ago and their quarter to this year, which is really striking. Number four is SAP with 23% growth to $3.8 billion for q3. Number five on the list is Google Cloud with 22% growth to $8.4 billion. Workday is in the number six spot — 19% growth to 1.6 billion.

04:00 — AWS grew 12% to $23.1 billion. Salesforce come in at 11% to $8.6 billion and IBM released a 9% growth rate for its Red Hat hybrid cloud business but did not disclose — or I was not able to find — a corresponding revenue total for that. Now in the 10th spot, Snowflake grew 37% to $640 million. I’ve got them reported separately because, proportionally, they are so much smaller than the other Cloud Wars Top 10 companies.

04:49 — So, across the board, we saw generative AI dominate the narratives of every company. I want to come back to that Microsoft quarter. The magnitude of some of these numbers plus the growth rates indicate, I think, pretty clearly that my claim of this being the greatest growth market the world has ever known holds true and well for some time.
