How AI Proliferation Drives Consumption of Cloud Services

In this Growth Swarm moment, excerpted from episode 32, Scott Vaughan explains how artificial intelligence (AI) will drive cloud services, as the technology is projected to grow by five times over the next five years.

Highlights

00:15 — AI is the “tip of the spear,” says Scott. “It’s the applications that are going to touch so many people over so many lifestyles and industries.” He doesn’t view AI and the cloud as mutually exclusive but as symbiotic.

00:33 — AI will drive the use of cloud services, notes Scott, because so much of the “data gathering and crunching” is actually supported through cloud services. AI technologies are projected to grow five times as much over the next five years.

01:20 — AI is “so interesting” because it is so accessible to so many more people, more life-changing than the cloud.

01:36 — Scott was on a roundtable with retail executives from a gaming company that developed in-store AI so they could understand why people leave the store without buying anything. The intention was to use AI as means of predictive analysis, which demonstrates that “AI is just a huge step in that next layer.” This is just one application.
