AI and the healthcare industry share a strong history. From early on, AI technologies have contributed to advancements in various healthcare functions, including diagnosis and patient management. Now, Suki, a significant player in the healthcare AI sector, has introduced a series of enhancements to its AI assistant that utilize the capabilities of Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform.
Clinician Support
In collaboration with Google Cloud, Suki has refined its Suki Assistant which now provides patient summaries and includes Q&A capabilities powered by Vertex AI. The new enhancements make Suki Assistant the first tool of its kind to provide “end-to-end” support to clinicians, with medical record summarization, Q&A, documentation tasks, coding capabilities, patient data access, and dictation features.
“Our goal is to make healthcare technology invisible and assistive, to give clinicians their time back to care for patients,” said Punit Soni, Founder and CEO of Suki. “Today marks a milestone in Suki’s history: becoming the industry’s first end-to-end AI assistant.

“In partnership with Google Cloud, these latest features change the paradigm of how clinicians access and consume data that informs care decisions, giving them instant access to highly relevant, digestible insights. Suki will continue to work with a variety of best-in-class AI models to transform clinician administrative workflows, lifting the burden from clinicians so they are free to focus their energies on patient care.”
More Preparation, Better Visits
Collectively, the new features make it easier for clinicians to plan and execute care by providing better insights before patient visits and on-demand information during consultations. Two solutions, Google Cloud FHIR API and Google Cloud Vertex AI Search for Healthcare, allow healthcare professionals to securely ask questions in natural language based on extensive medical data.
Clinicians can ask about specific details, such as, “What medications is this patient taking for diabetes?” They receive this information directly from the patient’s electronic medical record and other validated sources. When accessing the patient summaries feature, clinicians receive up-to-date data about recent patient appointments. Ultimately, this reduces the burden of excessive administrative tasks and enables patients to receive better, more personalized care.
AI Impacts Full Spectrum of Care
As we’ve reported in the past, healthcare providers are increasingly suffering from burnout due to the numerous administrative tasks their roles now entail. AI, particularly GenAI, has significantly contributed to reducing these tasks, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient outcomes.
In this collaborative effort, Google Cloud and Suki have achieved a new milestone by enabling AI-driven assistance across the entire spectrum of care. This demonstrates not only the power of Vertex AI but also the adaptability and breadth of the platform. Its competency in operating across multiple sectors and industries, along with its ability to address specific use cases, showcases its versatility.
“We at Google Cloud are truly excited to be partnering with Suki,” says Aashima Gupta, global director of healthcare strategy and solutions, Google Cloud. “Their innovative use of our generative AI technologies is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in healthcare.”
