Highlights
Carrefour is a major European retailer (based in France) that operates in 40 countries and has about 14,000 stores. Revenue is about 80 billion euros. Tue’s role is to enable and enhance digital transformation in the procurement function.
Generative AI Tie-Ins (01:11)
In the summer of 2023, Carrefour determined generative AI had high potential for a range of functions: procurement, marketing, human resources, and more. Its goal was to identify use cases that can bring productivity and value to the company’s procurement function. Carrefour has found that generative AI can slash the time involved in comparing and analyzing quotes from suppliers; that process took about 30 minutes and now takes 10 minutes with generative AI.
AI Lessons Learned (02:37)
Tue says generative AI’s accuracy has been strong and productivity benefits are significant. He cautions customers and prospects that they need to stay up to date with the latest releases of large language models. “It’s pretty tough to follow the rhythm of releases of generative AI to be honest,” he says.
Explaining what’s important to him as a business stakeholder who’s impacted by the company’s process mining work, Tue points to the need to “really identify the bottlenecks and plan to have a detailed action plan to make sure we correct what’s wrong and what we can improve.”
