Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. The guest host of today’s episode is Aaron Back, focusing on Salesforce. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.
This episode is sponsored by “Selling to the New Executive Buying Committee,” an Acceleration Economy Course designed to help vendors, partners, and buyers understand the shifting sands of how mid-market and enterprise CXOs are making purchase decisions to modernize technology.
In this Cloud Wars Minute, Aaron shares some key takeaways from Salesforce’s AI Day digital event.
Highlights
00:31 — During Salesforce AI Day, Salesforce demonstrated how they are “all in” for artificial intelligence (AI), specifically, generative AI. Aaron says that Salesforce explained that there were more than 1 trillion predictions a week, around 210 AI patents, 227 AI research papers published, and the Salesforce Data Cloud is ingesting 12 trillion data points a year.
01:33 — Aaron explains that the big announcement at the event was the launch of the Einstein GPT Trust Layer. The intent of this product is to close the gap that exists in AI, relating to data control, bias, toxicity, and hallucinations. This announcement focused on three key areas:
- Inter- and intra-enterprise trust
- Anonymized zero retention generation
- Open model ecosystem
03:11 — Einstein GPT Trust Layer has secure data retrieval, dynamic grounding, toxicity detection, auditing, and zero retention. Zero retention means that any prompt that is fed into a large language model (LLM) is then deleted.
04:34 — Salesforce emphasized that this new product is built into the architecture, sitting below the “builders” but above the Data Cloud and open model layers. Additionally, Salesforce announced that it will continue to be releasing more GPT functionalities across its technology suite.
05:25 — As someone who is bullish on ethical AI, Aaron is excited to see a solution like the Einstein GPT Trust Layer “sit in the middle layer.”
06:08 — However, Aaron explains that something that was not really addressed was “when generative AI prompts are raised, is there concern around browser caching of what’s popped up on your screen?” He also is curious as to whether Salesforce will “audit the toxicity granularity to ensure it’s meeting compliance and regulatory standards.
