In this Cloud Wars Expo moment, Sabina Zafar, Head of Technology Platform Modernization, North America, Oracle, discusses the importance of data sovereignty and how Oracle supports global data sovereignty when it comes to data sharing.
Highlights
00:16 — The concept of data sovereignty has become increasingly popular. Zafar explains that changing global situations have led countries to become more territorial about their data and the ability to secure it. These topics have taken the lead in Oracle’s conversations with global banks.
00:54 — Oracle is keeping a country’s data “within their borders” by offering what they refer to as the on-premise cloud. Zafar says Oracle has “decreased that footprint” to take the entire public cloud into a country’s data centers; this has led to conversations about data sharing.
01:21 — Zafar says that countries and governments are now paying attention to what happens with their data. There are policies being created around the data and a greater focus on how to keep a country’s data within its borders.
