0:09 – In the world of golf you want the lowest score. But in the Cloud Wars, you want the big numbers, and all three of the top cloud vendors did that in Q1 with Google out front, Amazon coming in second, and Microsoft in third place.
0:44 – Bob points out that there is a size discrepancy. Microsoft is about four times bigger than Google Cloud. Also, Amazon is a different size as well. So, each company should be looked at differently.
1:09 – For the fourth straight quarter, AWS has grown more rapidly than Microsoft’s cloud business. Google Cloud has five straight quarters growing at 44% or more. Microsoft grew as much as Google Cloud’s total revenue at about $5.8 billion.
2:13 – In Microsoft’s earnings call last week, Satya said that tech spending is about 5% of GDP and that by the end of the decade that it’s going to increase to 10%. All of this will be due to an ongoing expansion of how tech is used in businesses, the type of applications, automating the depth, and driving better decision-making with AI.
2:54 – Historically, people on the front lines haven’t used technology that much before in industries. However, they are now getting very aggressively into tech which fueling a wildly expanding market.
