00:20 — I spoke at a conference last week where many speakers assured people that generative AI was not coming for their jobs. I respectfully disagree. The World Economic Forum talks about digitization creating 97 million new jobs by 2025. Those jobs are in design, development, AI training, machine learning, engineering — basically, the care and feeding of digital assets.
01:29 — What do you do if you’re sitting in a job that is slowly being automated; if you don’t have the right education for one of those roles; or if you don’t live where those roles are being created and can’t move there?
01:47 — In the end, AI will enhance the jobs of decision-makers, people conducting experiments and doing analysis, and people in customer-facing roles. It’s going to reduce the number of people required for repetitive back-office tasks like accounting, translation, writing, and many legal functions.
02:23 — Here’s my advice: Tackle this head-on. Because it’s always better to be a disrupter than a disruptive. Every company that’s pondering automation needs transformation leaders, they need people who will embrace the change, not hide from it.

If your company is in a transformation, volunteer for roles on transition teams because, in the end, leadership positions will need to be filled.
