Welcome to Episode 60 of the Cloud Wars Horizon Minute — featuring news and commentary hosted by Acceleration Economy analyst Tom Smith. Each episode provides insights into one or more innovation Accelerators on the Cloud Wars Horizon. This episode focuses on an AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning) startup named neurothink and its work with VMware multi-cloud products.

Highlights

00:35 —  AI/ML startup neurothink aims to “democratize AI” and is leaning heavily on VMware multi-cloud tech products and infrastructure to deliver on that promise.

01:00 —  Officials have said prospective partners have expressed interest in using the platform for applications that include mapping the underwater environment of the ocean and building windmills in the water.

01:20 —  neurothink says it aims to make access to the needed computing resources “radically accessible” with ML available to those without coding experience.

01:50 —  Multi-cloud support was a core part of the company’s radical accessibility vision because, while most major cloud service platforms provide AI/ML tools, those tools are complex and work in one platform doesn’t easily translate to others, so vendor lock-in is a risk.

02:05 —  neurothink is relying on several VMware tools as part of its multi-cloud strategy

02:40 —  neurothink has four petaflops of peak ML compute capacity, so it could deliver impressive speed to customers; its multi-cloud model and work with VMware is key to that performance.
