Welcome to Episode 50 of the Cloud Wars Horizon Minute — featuring news and commentary hosted by Acceleration Economy analyst Tom Smith. Each episode provides insights into one or more Innovation Accelerators on the Cloud Wars Horizon. This episode focuses on Walmart, digital initiatives, and its innovation leadership.

Highlights

01:47 — In the last several weeks, Walmart launched massive, strategic digital initiatives that follow recent business successes. These initiatives are huge for a company with 10,500 stores.

02:10 — The company has allied with TikTok, Snap, and Roku to deliver customer ads on these popular, far-reaching platforms. It’s adding value through targeting, measurement, and sales lift data for its Walmart Connect customers.

02:30 — Walmart is personalizing, and removing friction, from choosing and buying products between stores, its website, and its app.

02:52 — Walmart also launched “ultra-realistic” simulation technology so that customers can see how garments fit them.

03:10 — Walmart is not only the world’s largest company and largest retailer; it’s quite possibly the world’s top digital innovator.
