Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.
In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob talks about his recent conversation with Trey Henderson, the Corporate VP and Controller of Match Group, which is the parent company of Match.com, to break out of what he called a “cycle of death.”
Highlights
00:18 — The company is growing fast globally, so they needed a unified financial system that’s clear about what’s going on across the board rather than multiple fragmented, disparate systems.
01:01 — When Henderson joined Match Group around seven years ago, there was a lot of data coming in but it was often not interconnected; it was fragmented. The company was experiencing significant growth, both organically and through acquisitions, which introduced more difficulties.
01:48 — After encountering various challenges, the company recognized its need to move to the cloud. Although they didn’t consider Workday at first, through the outreach of a salesperson, they were able to better understand the capabilities that Workday could provide.
02:21 — Henderson shared that Workday “blew us away.” Match Group has expanded with Workday not only with financials but also with HCM and payroll.
02:36 — Match Group doesn’t want its employees to spend an inordinate amount of time at work; the company values its employees having time at home with their families. They were able to ensure this by implementing modern systems that could manage the low-value work, which has resulted in happier employees.
03:30 — Keep an eye out because there will be a full-length podcast with Trey Henderson coming soon!
