0:28 – It appears that Amazon, through AWS, has a new secret weapon. It’s machine learning—but it’s also more than that, it’s “machine learning services.”
01:00 – In the last two quarters, AWS has grown faster than Microsoft Cloud after trailing Microsoft’s growth rate for a long time. In Q2, AWS cloud revenue grew 37% to Microsoft’s 36%. And in Q3 before that, AWS bested Microsoft in cloud revenue growth rate, 39% to 36%.
01:30 – Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky provided some insight into what is driving the surge in cloud revenue within Amazon Web Services on last week’s Amazon earnings call. Olsavsky said that “customers of all sizes and across all industries are using AWS as their preferred cloud provider for machine learning services.”
02:05 – Olsavsky said that Amazon now has solutions for “contact center intelligence” and “enterprise search intelligence,” as well as solutions for manufacturing and healthcare.
02:40 – Given how hot industry clouds are these days, it’s great to see Amazon jumping into the market with a differentiated approach focused on ML. We’ll see how this approach impacts the strong momentum they are building against cloud arch-rival Microsoft.
