Celonis has long championed process mining, the method by which organizations can effectively manage and optimize critical business processes. Now, the company has joined forces with Ardoq, a firm specializing in Enterprise Architecture (EA) to develop a joint solution that unites business and IT teams.
Aimed at CIOs, the solution focuses on the concept of digital twins functionality that was already supported by Celonis and is now being enriched by Ardoq.
The new solution combines the power of the Celonis Process Intelligence platform with Ardoq’s EA platform to develop a digital twin of an organization. By analyzing this digital twin, stakeholders can visualize the links between IT operations and the success of business processes meaning CIOs are better placed to make technology investments that support business priorities.
The Celonis Process Intelligence platform enables companies to create a digital twin of their business operations. With it, organizations can root out value and action these gains across their organization. Using Ardoq’s EA platform, companies can consolidate enterprise views to maximize the value of IT investment for informed decision-making.
Digital Twin Aligns IT, Business Needs
Eugenio Cassiano, SVP of Strategy and Innovation at Celonis, expanded on the announcement, explaining how the two solutions are working cohesively to deliver a new offering to CIOs. “The collaboration between Celonis and Ardoq strengthens Celonis’ Process Intelligence Graph by integrating Ardoq’s advanced Enterprise Architecture (EA) technology and IT knowledge,” he told Cloud Wars. “This integration enhances process visibility, aligns IT systems with business goals, and expands the data foundation for more efficient decision-making and AI-driven insights.”
Ardoq enhances Celonis’ Process Intelligence in four key ways:
- Provides a complete digital twin of an organization: “Ardoq enriches Celonis’ digital twin by providing the IT systems landscape digital representation into the Process Intelligence Graph,” Cassiano said. “The final outcome is to represent processes, people, and technology into a new digital twin.”
- Enhances decision-making through contextualized IT data: “While Celonis excels at mapping process performance, Ardoq provides a comprehensive view of the IT landscape — application portfolios, system dependencies, and technical capabilities. This context enables CIOs and architects to make better-informed decisions about system changes, process optimizations, and technology investments, reducing risks in transformation initiatives.”
- Process and application consolidation: “Combining cost and usage data for IT systems provided by Ardoq’s EA platform with Celonis process knowledge and intelligence will help businesses quantify the impact of applications on process performance. This integration helps identify redundant systems, optimize resource allocation, and ultimately improve process efficiency through better alignment of IT infrastructure with business needs.”
- Detects shadow IT and change adoption: “By combining Ardoq and Celonis Task mining capabilities we can now provide use cases for Dynamic Shadow IT detection and Change Adoption. We want to enable new thoughts in IT to improve their service to business and speed up change projects.”
Cassiano explained how this digital twin technology will, in the future, enable advanced use cases for process orchestration and support AI agents to automate work.
Final Thoughts
One of the conundrums of data collection and analysis is what to do with the information you unearth. Celonis already has mechanisms in place, namely industry-specific apps and workflow automations, for actioning insights delivered through its process intelligence technology.
However, there are some use cases, particularly those that require cultural changes, like a move from siloed to shared visibilty, that require something more. The combination of Celonis and Ardoq is delivering on that requirement.
