Welcome to Episode 69 of the Cloud Wars Horizon Minute — featuring news and commentary hosted by Acceleration Economy analyst Tom Smith. Each episode provides insights into one or more innovation accelerators on the Cloud Wars Horizon. In this episode, Tom previews an upcoming profile on the AI startup Findmine.

Highlights

01:12 —  Findmine is an innovative startup that scales content creation for brands — such as clothing and furniture companies — through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). It “completes looks” to help consumers better envision how items look together.

01:48 — CEO Michelle Bacharach became interested in working in this space because, as a consumer, she experienced difficulty finding complementary products since “every company in retail sells one product at a time” and that’s not how we as consumers use those goods.

01:54 — The company creates what it calls “shoppable content” by “completing looks” for prospective customers. Adidas previously had merchandisers manually create outfits that reflect the brand’s style point of view. The process took 27 steps and 20 minutes to complete a look, and fewer than 10% of products appeared in outfits a customer might buy.

02:24 — With Findmine and its AI/ML engine, Adidas has achieved a 95% reduction in merchandiser time spent and a 960% increase in the number of items appearing in outfits. That’s one compelling proof point — and the company has other big-name customers

02:55 — Look for more coverage of Findmine upcoming on Acceleration Economy.
