In this Celosphere 2023 interview, Acceleration Economy’s Kieron Allen and Laura Gardner, director of global partnerships at Celonis, speak with Meritxell Macia, partner, intelligent automation and Celonis alliance leader for EMEA at IBM.

Highlights

Macia notes that IBM and Celonis started working together in 2017 as strategic partners on process mining. IBM looks to combine data and generative AI to deliver process intelligence and intelligent automation to customers.

This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s AI Ecosystem Course, available on demand. Discover how AI has created a new ecosystem of partnerships with a fresh spirit of customer-centric cocreation and renewed focus on reimagining what is possible.

Supported Use Cases and Industries (01:44)

IBM has implemented process mining use cases across several industries: consumer products goods (CPG), banking, insurance, transportation, and logistics. The company’s approach is to start small and scale fast. The key question to customers has been around the value they can realize. IBM has just built a connector between its generative AI platform and Celonis. Generative AI “is here,” Macia says, “so when we talk about process mining, process intelligence and generative AI, it’s not a dream.”

Process Mining Benefits and Enhancements (03:23)

Companies are strongly focusing on cost reduction and productivity — generative AI along with process mining is making that a reality. It’s becoming faster to unlock value from Celonis, which previously supported structured data, when you add in generative AI which allows it to support unstructured data. This means output from emails and phone calls, to use a couple examples, can be structured in IBM’s watsonx platform and then ingested into Celonis.

New Celonis Products (04:44)

IBM will be able to unlock much more value for customers using the new Process Intelligence Graph technology, especially if the knowledge can be leveraged across enterprises and across industries.
