Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder, Bob Evans. The next three minutes are packed with insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud! Today’s Topic is The New Cloud: Ford, Rocket Mortgage, Goldman Sachs & More.
Highlights
0:50 – An entire new wave of cloud “vendors” is making news with innovative industry-specific solutions. Ford Motor Company has become the latest of a number of large companies across industries that have become both customers and creators of cloud technology. To create a new set of services targeted at small businesses, Ford has teamed up with Salesforce—and the offering is open even to those who don’t own a Ford vehicle.
01:30 – The Ford-Salesforce partnership comes on the heels of another Salesforce project, which was in collaboration with Rocket Mortgage. You could ask, is Salesforce getting into the mortgage business or is Rocket getting into the cloud business? The reality is that it’s a bit of both.
01:50 – Another example of this trend: AWS and Goldman Sachs teamed up to create a new Data Cloud for Financial Services. It’s a very different world when it comes to business boundaries than the one we were living in a few years ago.
03:00 – Bob says that even though we are seeing a number of new projects and partnerships between cloud vendors and their non-tech customers, we are most likely only at the very beginning of this trend. We are seeing what the near future of business might look like, but there is so much more to come.
03:20 – Look for the smartest and most forward-looking cloud providers to lead the way in terms of innovation in this realm.
