Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily cloud news and commentary show. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the cloud.

In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, co-host Kieron Allen discusses Microsoft, GitHub, and AI models.

Highlights

00:19 — Despite Microsoft’s significant investment in OpenAI, GitHub Copilot is expanding beyond its support for OpenAI’s models to provide developers with the option to use Anthropic‘s
Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro models to power its Copilot chat feature.

00:41 — GitHub officials noted no one model can support every scenario and developers expect the agency to build with the models that work best for them, pointing to a future that features multi-model choice.

01:30 — Microsoft’s move underscores its focus on ensuring long-term progress with GitHub.

AI Agent & Copilot Summit is an AI-first event to define opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents. Building on its 2025 success, the 2026 event takes place March 17-19 in San Diego. Get more details.
